Small garden structures such as sheds used to be one-off construction projects – time consuming and relatively expensive to install. This changed in the 1970’s with the advent of the pre-assembled panel construction method, and our founder Russell Cox brought to this to Tasmania.
Family owned since 1978
Gardenstar started in 1978 as a brand of the company Southland Industries. In 2019 the Gardenstar division of Southland Industries was split off into a separate company, Acermax Pty Ltd.
It still supplies the standard Classic range of sheds as well as the Custom units – these can be ordered in many colours, with higher than standard walls, windows and skylights and with doors positioned to suit your situation – and it is still 100% Tasmanian owned and operated.

Currently we are a third generation Tasmanian-owned business, manufacturing 3 ranges of sheds - Classic, Custom and ACERMAX.

Gardenstar has been employing Tasmanians since 1978. The current team is among the best we have had and is committed to constant improvement of product quality as well as product development.
Manufactured in Tasmania
Gardenstar is a fully invested Tasmanian manufacturer. Since we began assembling sheds in Tasmania, we have been continuously improving our processes. Specialised machinery such as press brakes, sheet metal guillotines and roll formers for cladding and flashing sections are utilised, and these have been upgraded as required, especially with introduction of CNC systems.
Gardenstar has developed an extensive network of reseller relationships, ensuring that our product is readily available throughout Tasmania.
